Taking a Mind Break

Learning About Moths…

I try to keep my daytime “Teacher Life” from my nighttime adult life. However, I saw this last week and had to share. I think I would’ve died if a moth this big flew in front of me. It’s beautiful, but it’s massive compared to our NJ brown moths.

Playing with Bootstrap 4: #100DaysofCode, R2D13

It’s Caturday and “School is Over” Saturday! That means I can focus my time, mind, and energy on my coding. Today I was designing a portfolio website using Bootstrap 4. Actually, I’m trying to review HTML5 and different frameworks. It seemed like a good idea to review Bootstrap using W3Schools’ website. Now that I’ve gone through the information a second time, it makes sense. It’s still a work in progress, but this is what I’ve done so far. Continue reading

Accessibility, R2D12: #100DaysofCode

I think I’m on Day 12 of my second round. It’s been a little difficult keeping track of my coding for the #100DaysofCode. Although I mark it on my calendar, I forget to talk about it on my blog. So, today, I’m making a special effort to remember. Today, I’ve been working on the Applied Accessibility tutorials on FreeCodeCamp.

When I logged in two weeks ago, I was happy to see the new tutorials. These were topics that I was already researching on the Internet. The hardest part about having ADHD as an adult is I have difficulty holding on to new material. So, I’m glad that I could review JavaScript and HTML5/CSS concepts. (Whew! I can’t believe I finally said that out loud! As a teacher, I deal with young students that are just starting their journey with ADHD. Huge that I made a connection to my difficulties.) I’ve dealt with technology accessibility with my elementary students. Now, I’m looking forward to learning about coding to make my web pages more accessible.

Shetland: BritBox Watchlist Favorite

Enjoying an evening with Chardonnay, coding, and Shetland. #100DaysofCode

I’ve enjoyed the other seasons of the show, so, of course, I was excited to hear Season 4 was streaming on BritBox. I watched all six episodes while coding a sample webpage. Some people listen to music while they code. I prefer to watch/listen to BritMystery/Crime television shows. Shetland became my favorite because I’ve traveled to Scotland a few times and love the country. I love seeing the beautiful countryside again as Perez tries to solve the crime.

The show also reminds me of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple. She said it best:

One does see so much evil in a small village… Miss Jane Marple

So, murder and crime on the Shetland Islands seem appropriate.

T’s Heart Journey: The Angiogram

I heard the best news this afternoon! Today was my angiogram to see if I had blocked arteries in my heart. My stress test and blood work came back with a 50-50 chance that I could have an issue. So, my cardiologist felt the best thing to do was the have the angiogram. It took only 10 minutes before I heard his words: You have no blocked arteries in your heart!
