I started watching Broken with Sean Bean on BritBoxUS three months ago. I binge-watched the rest of Season 1 after the first episode. Now, I’m waiting patiently for Season 2. (Please tell me there will be a Season 2!)
Bean plays Catholic priest, Father Michael Kerrigan. He struggles to accept his past “missteps” and to be a “good priest. I’ve been a practicing Catholic since April 2016. I’ve also had moments where I’ve struggled with maintaining the message and spirit of the mass homily. I found the show to be refreshing and comforting. That’s why I’m intrigued by Bean’s character. He is so honest and human. Father Kerrigan understands that his parishioners sometimes make choices which may go against the church. Yet, he’s still there to offer support and guidance. I know that’s what priests are supposed to do. However, with Bean’s character, it feels different.
We all need something to hold onto…and with Father Kerrigan, even the littlest sign of hope is worth it.
