Starting my personal day, #ObamaDay with vanilla incense and @hulu. Love that Meryl Streep’s film, The Bridges of Madison County, came up. Actually it is appropriate because today our country is electing our first dictator. So, today I will only celebrate the work of our last president, Barack Obama. I will not honor hate.
Rest easy great prince,
You will be missed,
But never forgotten. T. Lanette
Still shocked and sad by George Michael’s death. His music helped me through many difficult times during my life. I still reach for his songs when I need a lift. I was just playing Last Christmas on Friday morning as I drove to work. I didn’t know then as I belted out the words in my car, that we would lose this gifted man on Christmas Day.
I still remember the first time I saw him. He was gliding across the stage in a glistening white shirt that said Choose Life and a gorgeous smile. I was hooked. When they said he was dating a Black woman, I was determined to pack my bags and move to England to be his wife. I also applauded his bravery for coming out. I will definitely miss his voice.
When a life is taken too soon, we honor its influence by choosing to live, choosing to love, and choosing to be happy. T. Lanette
Merry Christmas! Let Today Be About Light and Joy!
Today is the first time in years that I have put up my Christmas tree. I avoided putting up the tree due to my cats. As quickly as I put it up, they would have taken it down. However, this year, I needed to bring light and joy into my home.
I went with a black, purple, and gold theme. (Thanks to an impromptu stroll through the Walmart Christmas aisle.) I had the tree skirt made almost 10 years ago. Now my bedroom is blessed with the light of the holidays.
So, today my goal is to share only the light and joy of Christmas. I think we all need that positive vibe in our lives. I wish you light, peace, happiness, and joy. Merry Christmas!
This ad for Whitening Face Scrub just hit me the wrong way today. We have Drumpf, his racists, & White Supremacists sharing their hate daily, and the media trying to normalize it. I am just not in the mood for anything in reference to whitening especially skin. I get why it’s used, still, as a Black woman, it hit me the wrong way.
