My cat kids are never far away when I’m coding, especially on a Sunday night. Last night they were within touching distance as usual. All that was missing was the fireplace. I love these moments. It was a perfect end to a relaxing weekend. I spend so much time working with children and other adults, that’s why it’s great to have this moment of peace.
Even with the sun shining, I’m still surrounded by a funk and a fog this week. I guess Daylight Savings has hit me really hard. I haven’t been able to shake this mood. Lately I’ve been tired, annoyed, fed up, and… tired. I know it’s stress at work (Do I have to be asked to do everything?) and stress of doing everything on my own (Even taking out the trash has pissed me off!). But, this Black Woman has reached the point where I have no more nice words to give! And I don’t think Sunday mass or my therapist will help with adding those words back into my vocabulary. Today was like most Sundays except… I had to cut my dreadlocks for the fifth plus time. (I’ve had them so often, I’ve lost count.) I had to let them go. My hair wasn’t responding well to my medication.
See, besides my depression medication, I’m also taking five more medications for my Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). Add to that my grown woman age of 50 and… My hair needed a rest. As I cut each lock, I could hear a soft voice from my hair saying, “Thank you…”
