I don’t know why it took me so long to figure this out. I’ve had many packages delivered to my home that I needed to carry into my second-floor condominium. When you don’t have a man around, you just make due or ask your nearest male neighbor.

Now that I use Amazon more often, I get packages delivered to my job. That means I need to move them from my parking lot to my steps. Last week, in addition to the rain, none of my male neighbors were around. So, that’s when I had a brilliant idea to buy a Portable Hand Truck! (It only took about 18 years of home ownership before I had this idea.)

Every Single Black Woman Deserves to Live Her Best Life

I can already imagine the comments and statements after people read my title. In fact, let me just take a moment to make myself clear: This is the life that I currently lead. This is the life that I have led for most of my adulthood. Being a single Black woman is what I can relate to. Welcome to my worldview!

I have spent so much time chasing the lifestyle I thought I should have or was told I should have. I know I am not alone in making this statement. However as a Black woman, I see daily images of “ideal lives” that don’t reflect my current reality or even include people who look like me.

I mean, I could watch and enjoy Sex in the City if it appeared on Hulu or Netflix. However, I did love and embrace Girlfriends because it was closer to my reality. Even though other women who aren’t Black may have the same experience, I can’t speak about you. I can only speak about me. Anyway, back to the lifestyles.

One Cat Household: Do I Really Need a Second Cat?

I have come to realize that somewhere there must be a “universal cat owners” book. In that book, there has to be a chapter on single cat owners or the one cat household. I imagine that chapter to be one-paragraph long with the last line stating, “See the chapter on owning more than one cat.” Why would a seasoned cat owner, let alone a new cat owner want to own only one cat?

Well, based on what I have read, having one cat is the cardinal sin of the cat owners club. I am that single cat owner. I am trying to resist the cat owner peer pressure to add another cat family member.
