I realized today that I spent most of my summer indoors because it was way too hot. During the summer, I usually walk downtown and sit outside the neighborhood restaurants. (Have to remind them Black people exist in the town.?) Instead, I sat inside computer coding and catching up on my favorite shows.
It was too beautiful today to not sit outside. I’m normally a Starbucks girl (Shh! Don’t tell them!). However, today I lounged with my pumpkin spice latte at Track Five. The coffee was great and the seat was a perfect for people-watching. Glad I took the time to sit outside and enjoy the weather.
I’m not a gardener. In fact the best I can do is make sure my hostas are watered and protected from our community of deer. I know my limitations. The gardens I saw in France were phenomenal! I just didn’t realize you could do all of that with foliage!
My cat kids are never far away when I’m coding, especially on a Sunday night. Last night they were within touching distance as usual. All that was missing was the fireplace. I love these moments. It was a perfect end to a relaxing weekend. I spend so much time working with children and other adults, that’s why it’s great to have this moment of peace.
Today was like most Sundays except… I had to cut my dreadlocks for the fifth plus time. (I’ve had them so often, I’ve lost count.) I had to let them go. My hair wasn’t responding well to my medication.
See, besides my depression medication, I’m also taking five more medications for my Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). Add to that my grown woman age of 50 and… My hair needed a rest. As I cut each lock, I could hear a soft voice from my hair saying, “Thank you…”
