I don’t have time for subtle northern racism. I know I should be used to it after growing up in New Jersey. However, when it does appear, it’s as annoying as that nasty mosquito that won’t leave you alone. Now that 2016 has become the “Year of the Racist” with constant updates on television and Twitter, I don’t have time to deal with people’s issues about my Black skin.
Watching third night of convention. Starting to feel hopeful. Drumpf’s invitation to Russia today also helped. Nothing like a bit of treasonous activity by a racist candidate to start my day. #ImWithHer
Love when the day is so beautiful that you can turn off the AC. Windows up, door open, and incense burning on the gentle breeze.
Nothing more peaceful on a Saturday than sipping my coffee, burning jasmine incense, and retwisting my dreadlocks.
Good evening everyone.
Moments of clarity come when you least expect them. I work with young children, so those moments often come at school. When I returned from winter break, my students had many questions about my vacation. They would ask me what I did or where I traveled. (The students I work with have traveled frequently and visited locations I have only experienced as an adult. Their normal is traveling during vacation breaks.) My answer would always be:
- I did nothing;
- I traveled to [my hometown].
