My Friday started out with such promise…
To my two coworkers who took turns today chipping away at my patience: I will have a glass of White wine (or two) in your honor. I will also pray for you at Mass this Sunday.
Coworker #1: I will pray for the continued health of you and your family. I will also pray that your faux-supervisor attitude will melt away when you return in a month. You are not my supervisor.
Coworker #2: I will pray for your relaxing weekend now that you got that off your chest. I will also pray that you aren’t ambushed next Friday after work like you ambushed me. Side note: Coming in for a hug after you ripped me wasn’t a good idea. ( I’m a Cancer. I can’t change emotions that quickly.)
I know my “I don’t want a hug” surprised you. I was even surprised that I responded in kind to your,“Have a nice weekend.” However, that is all I could come up with at the time (trying to keep my “Non-threatening Non-Angry Black Woman in check). I will still pray that your Fridays for the rest of the school year end more peacefully than you ended mine today.
I am being selfish by praying for you. You see, if I pray for you, that will help me regain my inner peace. Your actions today weren’t about me. I won’t let you be a priority in my life this weekend.
